The TEAM science programme follows the Ontario curriculum while accommodating individual student learning needs. TEAM students are introduced to inquiry through the scientific process. They learn to form hypotheses, make observations, ask questions, and draw conclusions from their studies. Students learn about the scientific process by both observing teacher-demonstrated experiments and by taking part in hands-on labs. In Grades 7 and 8, students complete a Science Fair project researching a topic of their choice.
At TEAM School, we recognize the importance of technology in society and that the development of technological competencies and responsibility is essential for today’s learners. Students at TEAM use a variety of software as they learn skills and concepts to improve their computer literacy.
Computer classes include a variety of activities designed to develop and refine student abilities. TEAM students learn many skills to support their academic work in all subject areas. These include, but are not limited to keyboarding, word processing, coding, and research skills. TEAM students also explore the creative aspects of technology as they make posters, edit photos, and film movies.
Embracing 21st century technology, TEAM teachers incorporate technology to support their lessons in various subject areas. Students enjoy opportunities to use iPads to further enrich their studies in an engaging and exciting way.
TEAM School recognizes the importance of fostering responsible digital citizens. All students learn about appropriate online behaviours and responsible choices through activities in the computer lab and in the classrooms.
The music programme at TEAM focuses on developing an appreciation and love of music through creative expression. The curriculum is derived from current Orff philosophies. An emphasis is placed on exploring music through movement, rhythm, singing, listening, and, most importantly, enjoyment. Together these skills help develop a student’s coordination, directionality, focus, and socialization. A variety of instruments are introduced throughout the grades at TEAM School. These include Orff instruments, recorders, ukuleles, and bucket drums. Music is also an important part of the extracurricular programme at TEAM School. Activities offered include Glee Club, Jazz Band, Dance Club, as well as the annual year-end musical.
At TEAM School, we value and celebrate creativity. It is our goal to foster confidence and an enjoyment of the arts in all of our students as they learn and practise artistic skills and techniques through dedicated art classes and in their homeroom classes. Our art teacher collaborates with homeroom teachers to plan activities that complement themes and concepts being studied. Students express themselves using a variety of media such as paint, clay, wire, and technology as they create and explore art pieces that focus on the elements of design (space, colour, value, texture, line, shape, and form). Student artwork is proudly displayed in the hallways of TEAM School.
TEAM Students enjoy physical education classes every other day. Taught by a dedicated phys. ed. teacher, our students enjoy a curriculum that is focused on teamwork and cooperation. With an emphasis on skill development, students participate in soccer, cross country running, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, basketball, and more in a fun and exciting environment!
Starting in Grade 5, students have the opportunity to represent TEAM School on competitive sports teams. As a member of the Private School Athletic Association (PSAA), TEAM School competes against other private schools in a variety of sports that run the duration of the school year.
